A new £10 million school built by Graham Construction has officially opened in the Highlands.

The Lundavra Primary School has replaced Fort William and Upper Achintore Primaries to form an eleven class school.

Features of the development include a multi-purpose hall and a variety of other functions including early year's education, out of school care, additional needs provision and community facilities.

Council Leader of the Lochaber Area Committee, Thomas MacLennan, said: "The future of education in Lochaber is bright with the much-needed investments that the Council has made in the local education infrastructure.

"This is a great new facility which will also act as a focal point for the local community."

The council added a formal opening of the school will be arranged at a later date.
