Over £430,000 of carriageway maintenance is to get underway in Dumfries and Galloway, it has been announced.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out drainage works and repairs to support the existing road surface on the A77 south of Ardwell.

The work will begin on Tuesday, 3 November.

A series of overnight closures are scheduled in order to complete the work, taking place over 3-5 November between 8pm and 6am.

Once the drainage works are completed, carriageway reconstruction will take place under a weekend closure, from 6 November at 8pm until 9 November at 6am.

The final carriageway construction phase will be carried out on 13 November at 8pm and finis on 16 November at 6am.

Diversions will be in place during the road closures.

Gordon Wilson, Contract Director for Scotland TranServ, said: "It is essential that we carry out these essential maintenance works to ensure the longevity of the road surface, which will provide a long term benefit to the local communities and road users who use this route each day."
