Balfour Beatty is underway with work to develop a new £28m train station concourse in Dundee.
The six-storey development has been designed by Nicoll Russell Studios and is to include ticketing facilities, along with a cafe/restaurant and retail space.
A new 120-bedroom hotel will also be developed three floors above the new concourse.
The previous station building was demolished during Christmas Day last year while rail services were suspended for the holiday period.
The new station, part of a £1bn redevelopment of Dundee's waterfront, is expected to be completed in 2017.
Council Leader Ken Guild said: "After the preparation work clearing away the outdated concourse and tired 1970s structures it is good to see our contractors Balfour Beatty on site and the new buildings getting underway.
"In total the work will bring more than 120 construction jobs per year for the two years of the build; £11.6m of gross added value to the local economy; and knock on benefits to the local supply chain, which all add up to make the concourse project a key economic driver for the city while it is being built."
