A new cycle route forming the first phase of a £1.2m scheme has been opened in Edinburgh.
The Meadows to Innocent route is Phase 1 of a project to link the Innocent Path to the Union Canal towpath via the Meadows.
The route includes segregated cycle facilities on main roads, new and relocated crossings on Buccleuch Street and Clerk Street, and more space for pedestrians/cyclists on the Gifford Park vennel.
Two community murals have also been created.
The £1.2m project is being funded by both the council and Sustrans Scotland, who have contributed £500,000.
Other projects underway or planned for the future include a new walking/cycling route between Loanhead and Gilmerton.
A cycle route from Roseburn Path to Leith Walk via George Street is also currently under development.
Transport Convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds: "This is one of many exciting cycling projects to come to completion this year, and I look forward to seeing the network grow as we continue to invest in cycling infrastructure."
