SP Energy Works will begin the next stage of a project to install a new electricity substation in Edinburgh.
The works will allow for the demolition and future development of the new St James Quarter.
On behalf of SP Energy Works, Morrison will carry out electricity mains reinforcement works on Leith Street and the junction of Broughton Street/York Place.
Works on Leith Street will take place from 21 September until the 27 November and at Broughton Street/York Place from 28 September until the 9 November.
A total of 15 ducts consisting of 11kV circuits and pilot (telecoms) cables will be laid at Leith Street.
From Broughton Street towards Cathedral Lane, eight ducts consisting of 33kV cables and pilot (telecoms) cables with one security (spare) duct will be installed to accommodate future tram development.
Mark Everett, SP Energy Networks Head of Delivery, said: "This is an important next phase in the project to ensure that the Edinburgh St James regeneration will have the required electricity connections in place."
