A consultation is underway in West Dunbartonshire over plans to develop a new education campus.

Residents are being encouraged by the council to give their opinions on the £17m development in Alexandria.

Plans include to develop a new Riverside Early Learning and Childcare Centre, a new Renton Primary School and Language Unit along with a new co-located St Mary's Primary School, which would incorporate St Martin's Primary School.

The campus would be developed on an area currently occupied by football pitch at the front of Vale of Leven Academy, as well as the grounds of St Martin's Primary School.

Further proposals include a new all-weather pitch at the rear of the Academy, along with an outdoor learning environment incorporating play areas and multi-use games pitch.

Pedestrian access to the new campus would be upgraded with the existing pathway enhanced and extended. A new car park would also be built.

The campus is scheduled to open in August 2018.

The consultation begins today, 7 September and the community can contribute up until Friday, 30 October.
