East Lothian Council has purchased a school in Tranent.
The council bought St Joseph's School today 15 July.
The acquisition means the council can now withdraw its planning application for a proposed development at Lewisvale.
Councillor Shamin Akhtar said: "I am delighted to say that the council has been able to purchase St Joseph’s School, Meadowmill and all its associated outbuildings, including Pathway, our looked-after children and young people’s centre.
"Proposals for the other buildings on the site will follow in due course."
