Moray Council has announced work is to begin on the first phase of a major heritage project in Elgin.
The project is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
A new all-abilities path will be developed to the summit of Ladyhill, from where a monument of the fifth Duke of Gordon looks down on the town.
The ruins of Elgin Castle will also be the starting point of the Castle to Cathedral to Cashmere heritage trail.
The project will link the castle with Elgin Cathedral and the Johnstons cashmere centre.
The new access route on Ladyhill is expected to be completed by late summer.
