SW Completes £900,000 Reservoir Upgrade

A £900,000 upgrade of a reservoir has been completed by Scottish Water (SW) in the Pentland Hills.

The company redeveloped the overflow spillway floor and reformed embankment profiles to prevent flooding in the event of heavy rain at Glencourse Reservoir.

Work has also been carried out to increase wave wall height, replace valves and prevent leaks to various part of the dam structures.

Project Manager Simon Renton said: "This project has involved taking a number of measures to prevent flooding in the interests of safety, and will ensure the reservoir is maintained to the highest possible standard, enabling us to maintain supplies of high-quality drinking water for the benefit of our customers in the capital."

The reservoir can be used to provide additional supplies of drinking water to customers in Edinburgh and parts of Midlothian.
