West Dunbartonshire Councillors are to discuss proposals to put The Play Drome site in Clydebank up for sale.

A report will go before a council committee on 17 June recommending the town centre location is put up for sale or lease.

The proposals state the Play Drome site would only be made available to a developer for demolition once the new Clydebank leisure centre at Queens Quay is fully operational, which is expected to be in February 2017.

The sale of the site will form part of the regeneration strategy of the area.

Jim McAloon, Head of Regeneration & Economic Development, said: "We believe we would attract a number of interested developers to put forward proposals for this attractive town centre site.

"We await the committee’s decision, and if granted approval we will start work on marketing the site immediately, with the aim of selecting a developer as soon as possible."

External advisors have suggested that leisure facilities such as a cinema, restaurants and gym could be possible developments.
