Aberdeenshire Council is to receive the first houses built for mid-market rent by the end of this month.
The first development of 12 houses in Westhill is nearly finished with a further 12 being completed by the end of August.
The initiative was achieved by establishing a Liability Limited Partnership (LLP) between the council and the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT).
Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Alex Neil, will visit the development site along with local councillors on 22 June.
Council members were also updated on Phase Five of its new build programme, which includes plans for 169 properties across the region.
Councillor Alisan Norrie said: "Providing affordable housing is vital for the future economic development of Aberdeenshire.
"We will continue to work with private providers and the Scottish Government to increase the number of affordable housing in the area."
