The Provost of Aberdeenshire has officially opened a new extension at a school in Inverurie.
The £14.3 million Kemnay Academy development includes a social area and a fully-equipped gymnasium along with new music rooms and additional support for learning facilities.
A biomass heating plant has also been installed adding to the academy's Eco-School status.
Provost Jill Webster opened the extension and unveiled a plaque of the school badge.
Provost Webster said: "The school serves the community and the whole-school community has been instrumental in bringing the project to fruition too."
Councillor Isobel Davidson said: "The extension houses a state-of-the-art gymnasium and music facilities and with additional improvements works in the rest of the school it is clear to see here today the enormous effort that has gone into creating new facilities."
