Forestry Commission Scotland has announced work will begin to secure a slope along the A82.

The commission's geotechnical team are to develop a permanent solution to the slope which was destabilised by a rock fall.

Chunks of stone slid down the gradient from a boulder field causing the road between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit to close in March.

Alex Macleod, Manager of the Commission's A82 Steep Ground Harvesting Project, said: "At the time we put in place some anchored rock fall netting to secure other unstable boulders on that section of hillside as an emergency measure.

"We now need to make these emergency works more permanent before the Autumnal bad weather arrives and potentially causes more problems."

Operations are due to start the week commencing 1 June with works completed by mid-July at the latest.
