Contractors developing two new schools in West Dunbarton have pushed back the opening of the new buildings to October 2016.
The buildings being developed are the new Kilpatrick Secondary School and Kilpatrick Early Years Service (KEYS).
The construction team has identified difficult ground conditions which require an unconventional method for installing the building foundations.
This involves a complex piling and platform solution.
The extra time taken to develop a solution and the extension to the development period means the completion date has been pushed back.
Terry Lanagan, Executive Director of Educational Services, said: "While it is disappointing that we will not be able to open the school in August 2016 as planned, I hope that parents will understand the reasons for the delay."
