Aberdeenshire Council has announced works to transform a town centre in the region will begin this week.

Artworks will be installed into Banchory's Scott Skinner Square starting 25 May and lasting for approximately 12 weeks.

Designs include a new open seating plan incorporating two benches, 15 seats and a table, three stainless steel lighting columns with elevated sculptures and cast block paving with text inserts at the main entrances to the square.

Paving in the square will also be improved were necessary with additional planters incorporated into the space and the landscape planting will be upgraded.

DUFI Art was commissioned by the Council to create a range of design concepts to improve the square.

Bancon has been selected as the main groundworks contractor.

Councillor Joanna Strathdee said: "I am very excited to see the improvement works at the square progressing and look forward to seeing how it flourishes once they are complete."
