Inverclyde Council has secured funding to develop a £240,000 mountain bike centre in Greenrock.
Development can now go ahead as Sportscotland has allocated £90,000 from its Legacy 2014 Active Places fund towards the facility at Rankin Park.
The council has also provided funding of £150,000.
Designs for the new centre include options for a link track, a balance bike track, a skills area and a pump track, a looping trail system of dirt berms and 'rollers' designed for bicycling without the rider pedalling.
John Mundell, Council Chief Executive, said: "We hope to make Rankin Park a 'jumping off' point for people to explore Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park by developing off road cycle routes which will complement the new national cycle route from Lunderston Bay to Wemyss Bay."
