Aberdeenshire Council has announced a £9.5m maintenance programme to benefit schools, pools and community halls in the area.
A total of £2.5m for maintenance projects has been approved for 2015/16, with an additional £7m to be rolled out over the next two years.
The plans include:
• Replacing all single-glazed steel framed windows in schools with appropriate double-glazed units
• Upgrading electrical services which will reduce energy consumption
• Improving toilets.
Some 20 projects are scheduled to begin this year, including a new access road for Tarlair Outdoor Swimming Pool, an upgrade to the all-weather pitch at Catto Park, upgrades to the playground at Balmedie Primary School and a new filtration plant at Huntly Swimming Pool.
