Aberdeen City Council has organised an Energy Cities conference, which will discuss the future needs of energy for cities, taking place between the 22nd - 24th of April.

200 political leaders and local representatives will attend the event, including delegates from France, Germany and Poland.

Local authorities will also discuss successful energy projects which occurred in Aberdeen, such as the hydrogen buses and refuelling station in Aberdeen which gathered £20 million of public and private investment.

Projects such as decentralised and municipally-owned energy, new production and consumption patterns, urban agriculture, local currencies, and new forms of cooperation will also be discussed.

Aberdeen City Council Head of Economic Development Richard Sweetnam said : "The energy sector has been driving Aberdeen's economy for a long time which makes it an inspiring place to invite our European colleagues to.

As the energy capital of Europe, we know the importance of exploring new ways of generating sustainable energy."
