Morrison Construction Scoops Award For £50m Scheme

Morrison Construction has won a National Considerate Constructors Award for its £50 million Elgin Flood Alleviation Scheme.

The company received the Silver Considerate Constructors National Site Award during a ceremony at The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh.

Part of the Moray Flood Alleviation Scheme, the project will protect 600 homes and 250 businesses. It is expected that the development will cope with 190 tonnes per second of floodwater once every 200 years.

Currently £3m under budget, the project, said to the largest flood scheme in Scotland, is expected to be completed in May 2015.

Allan Russell, Construction Manager with Morrison Construction, said: "Many congratulations to all those involved with this project as it is due to their hard work and dedication, working closely with our neighbours, which has enabled us to receive this prestigious award.
