The organisers of the Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show expect to see more interest in self-build in Scotland among over-55s.
Self-build expert, Michael Holmes, spokesperson for The Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show, says: "Now that people over-55 can access a lump sum from their pension pot, we expect to see an increase in interest in self-building among this demographic – who still have the option of a self-build mortgage.
"As well as providing an individually-designed home ,a self build is a great investment, worth on average, 15-25 per cent more than it costs."
Over 7,000 visitors are expected to attend the Scottish Homebuilding & Renovating Show, which is at the SECC on 16th and 17th May.
