The Highland Council has submitted a planning application for the Canal Parks Enhancement Project.

This is part of sports facility plans made for the city, made possible with the building of the Inverness West Link.

The project will deliver a new artificial pitch to International Rugby Board Standards along with 2 grass pitches. Room changing and clubhouse facilities will also be built along with space for car and bus parking. Furthermore, new boundary fencing will be built along with a new foot and cycle way for pedestrians.

Andrew Little, Chairman of Highland Rugby Club, said: "I'm delighted that we’ve got to this stage and that the detailed plans for the project are to be submitted following very positive discussions we’ve been having with the Council."

The Canal Parks Enhancement Project meets the ambition of the Highland Rugby Football Club (HRFC) to remain at Canal Parks, as opposed to moving to the west side of the canal.
