'Nearly Half' Of Scottish Energy From Renewable Sources

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has revealed that "nearly half" of Scotland's energy consumption now comes from renewable sources.

DECC figures show that 49.6% of the country's gross electricity consumption was from a renewable source in 2014. The figure is up from 44.4% in 2013.

Scotland is on schedule to hit its 2016 50% target.
