236 Dundee Homes Benefit From Insulation Scheme

236 homes in Dundee City's Woodside area have benefitted from a multi-million external wall insulation scheme.

John Alexander, convener of Dundee City Council's housing committee, met householders who have benefitted from the scheme this week.

"Through our partnership with the Scottish Government and SSE we are using £3.5m of Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland money to put in external wall insulation at more than 600 council and privately owned tenements and four in a block properties," he said.

"We are doing all we can to ensure that people in Dundee have energy efficient homes which they can afford to heat and hundreds have already reaped the rewards of a more fuel effective house. It has been fantastic to see the work completed already in a number of areas because as well as bringing obvious financial benefits to residents it also made a positive visual impact on the environment."

The external wall insulation programme has included sites at Lawton, Graham Street, Arklay Street, Hilltown and Clepington Road.

SSE Energy Solutions' Head of Operations, John Casey, said: "We're proud to be working with Dundee City Council on such a successful energy efficiency programme.

"Work like this makes a real difference to people's lives – making their homes easier to heat, reducing their fuel bills and improving their community's appearance. Many more Dundee residents are set to benefit from the programme this year and that's something I think we can all be proud of."
