Graham Construction is continuing work on a £13.5m restoration project at Lews Castle in Stornoway.

The second phase of the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar project is currently well under way and includes a new museum and archive building at the venue, as well as the creation of a glass-roofed courtyard café area and toilet facilities.

Public rooms on the ground floor of the building are also being fully restored, while a new visitor car park will be created along with associated landscaping works.

Simpson & Brown Architects is leading the conservation of the A-listed Lewis landmark, while Malcolm Fraser Architects are overseeing the new build extension, which is connected to the castle by a long gallery and glass roofed courtyard.

Graham says the museum and archive and the ground floor rooms of the Castle will be fully completed this summer, with public opening expected in October.
