Nine Council Houses Complete In Stirling

Stirling Council has announced the completion of nine new council houses in the Cornton area.

The bungalows on Adamson Place follow on those already built by Stirling Council’s Housing Service in the Riverside area and in Killearn, with a further 10 currently under construction in Cowie.

Celia and James Walker received the keys to their new property this week.

"We’ve lived in Stirling all our lives and the move to our new house means we’ll still be close to our family," Mrs Walker said.

"We need the move to a bungalow for health reasons and this is going to make such a difference for us. I’m really looking forward to it. The house itself is lovely and I’m especially looking forward to the summer once all the grass is up in the garden."

Council Leader Johanna Boyd said: "This is another great boost, bringing to more than 100 the total number of homes added to Council stock since 2012. It’s a clear example of how we are delivering on the Council’s key priorities of regenerating communities and delivering more socially rented housing."

The new properties come complete with underfloor heating and solar panels, as well as high levels of insulation.

Housing Portfolio Holder, Councillor Violet Weir said: "These new homes have been built to an excellent standard with a view to being both environmentally friendly and comfortable. As a mixture of one and two-bedroomed properties and all wheelchair accessible they are suitable for varying needs and I look forward to tenants moving in as soon as possible."
