A principle contractor is being sought to build a new extension at Liberton High School in Edinburgh.
The project will involve delivering new physical education facilities at the school by extending the existing PE block. The planned building would be partially located on an existing carpark, part of which would be retained when the work is completed.
In the notice, it says the building comprises a new single-storey extension along the east side of the existing sports building, containing accommodation, a classroom and a fitness suite, as well as a new gymnasium/dance studio along the north side.
Meanwhile, the external works would include some services diversions, retention and making good the remaining carpark area, plus landscaping along the east side and a new memorial garden on the south east corner.
Further information can be found on the Public Contracts Scotland website here.
In April 2014, a pupil at the school, 12-year-old Keane Wallis-Bennett, died when an internal wall fell on her. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive was being carried out into the incident, but a decision was made to demolish the gym hall at Liberton High School and replace it with new facilities.
