A new road, which will lead to the new Lairdsland Primary School in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, is to be constructed.

Work has already commenced on the infrastructure project, and is due to be completed in the spring.

The road will take around five weeks to complete and will run from the existing Strathkelvin Place in the town, parallel to Donaldson Street. To allow the work to be completed, the council has said some of the pictorial hoardings on display around the site have been removed. The artwork is being carefully stored as some of it will be relocated within the new school.


Lairdsland Primary School is the first of five new schools to be completed in the area under the local authority's £48m Primary School Improvement Programme.

Councillor Rhondda Geekie, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, commented: "This is another exciting step along the way to the opening of our first new primary school. Construction on the building itself is also on track and we're all very excited to see the finished result and to see our young pupils enjoying the additional benefits it will bring to their education."
