A new skate park has been approved for Inverclyde.

The facility will be located at Battery Park and will be a replacement for the existing park.

The project will cost £174,000 and will see the current facilities replaced with new features including ramps, quarter pipes, banks, rails, kickers, kerbs and raised tables.

Wheelscape, the specialist skate park designers, will be responsible for the design of the park and work is scheduled to commence on site over the next month.


Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council's Environment and Regeneration Convener, said: "This is an exciting new development and it is welcome news that the planning application has been given the go-ahead.

"The existing skatepark has been well used but it is clear from the plans for the new skatepark that we will be moving to a whole new level. I would like to thank the Inverclyde Skatepark Group for their valuable input to making sure that the new skatepark is an investment we can all be proud of."
