A series of road safety improvements works are to be carried out at Findhorn Bridge, south of Tomatin.

The stretch of the A9 dual carriageway, will see £460,000 spent on improving the road. Work will commence on site from Monday 9 February and are expected to last for four weeks. The project will be undertaken by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, and will involve upgrading the bridge parapets, as well as to allow for the removal of the temporary barriers which are located in the verges over the bridge.

In order to allow the work to be carried out safely, lane closures will be in place on the A9, with a maximum speed restriction of 50mpg also being put in place. The measures will remain for the duration of the project.

Eddie Ross, Operating Company Representative for the North West, said: "The Findhorn Bridge parapet was identified as sub-standard some time ago and has been protected by a temporary barrier whilst the design was undertaken and funding identified.

"I'm pleased to see this resolved and a new stronger parapet put in place. It will also allow the nearby layby to be reopened as it had to be closed whilst the temporary barrier was in position."
