Construction Output Increases By 3.2%

Scotland's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased 0.6% during the third quarter of 2014, it has been revealed.

Construction output was found to have expanded by 3.2% during the latest period, while the production sector contracted by 0.7% and the services sector, which accounts for almost three quarters of the economy, grew by 0.6%.

The figures, which have been published today (Wednesday) by Scotland's Chief Statistician, covers the period July to September 2014. Within this period, total output in the economy increased by 0.6%, compared to the previous quarter. On an annual basis, it rose by 3.0% compared to the third quarter of 2013.
