The second phase of works at Banff Bridge are to resume later this month.

The work will recommence on Monday 26 January and is expected to last for five days. The project was delayed over the Christmas period due to poor weather conditions.

The latest works are for the installation of six three-metre high masonry cutwaters – that resist the flow of water – to the upstream face of the bridge's piers. The cutwaters are vital in order to reduce the turbulent flow in the vicinity of the bridge foundations when the River Deveron is in full spate.

Throughout the works, the bridge will remain open to traffic, but a single-lane system is in operation during off-peak times in order to minimise disruption for the community.
