A refurbishment project at the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr has been completed.
The work will see a new, state-of-the-art gym open at the centre next week (19 January).
Following an investment of almost £500,000 from South Ayrshire Council, the gym consists of cardio-vascular equipment and resistance machines. A lot of the new equipment is also wi-fi enabled, so users can watch television, listen to music or download workout data directly on to smartphone apps. In addition, a Life Fitness SYNRGY 360 workout station has also been created at the gym, as has a dedicated spin studio. The ground floor reception area will also be re-configured to be more customer-friendly, the council has said.
Councillor Bill Grant, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure, commented: "The new facilities have transformed the gym and we can now offer customers more than just a work out – providing limitless opportunities for people to train smarter, better and more effectively – in order to achieve even better results whatever their ambitions."
