Recycling Plant Plans To Go On Display

Designs for a proposed recycling and waste management facility in Aberdeen are to go on display for the next two days.

The initiative, being put forward by SITA UK, would see a facility constructed at the Altens East Industrial Estate.

The application by SITA UK is for two new recycling and waste processing facilities at the industrial estate which, it says, will stop tens of thousands of tons of rubbish heading for landfill each year. It would also recover non-recyclable waste currently being landfilled by turning it into fuel, which would offset the use of fossil fuels. In addition, a new, modern depot and welfare facilities for the Council's waste collection staff and vehicles would be created.

Currently, SITA UK has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Aberdeen City Council, outlining its plans. The public consultations are being held prior to the submission of a planning application.

The plans will be on display at The Thistle Hotel in Altens, Aberdeen, today (13 January) and Wednesday (14 January) from 1pm to 8pm.
