Work is to resume at Glen Righ, it has been announced.

A geotechnical team from Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) will commence work on the site from Monday 19 January.

The work is part of the latest phase of the Commission's A82 Project, which is making safe and harvesting trees on the hills above the A82.

Alex Macleod, from the FCS and managing the project, commented: "Harvesting operations have progressed really well over recent months and we've seen the team remove some very large trees safely away from the A82. However we now need to carry out further slope stability work on the areas that have been recently felled.

"As before, this phase of work will involve rock scaling, netting & bolting but will also see the installation of a permanent catch fence on the steepest part of the slope."

FCS has added that traffic management is required for the project, and will be in place until 2 April. Following the harvesting of the hills, native broadleaves will be planted, rather than conifers, in order to help stabilise the slopes, the Commission added.
