South Ayrshire Council has said the new Citadel fitness facility will not reopen this month as planned.
The announcement comes after the gym was damaged during the recent storms, resulting in repairs needed to be carried out.
The Council has invested £450,000 to provide a state-of-the-art gym for the local community, but the facility has been left with water damage following the stormy weather.
The roof was damaged causing "significant" water ingress, the council has said, and this means that the equipment for the new gym cannot be installed until repairs have been undertaken.
Initially, the gym had been scheduled to open next Saturday (20 December), but the date has now been pushed back to mid-January, subject to weather conditions.
