Galliford Try has confirmed it has reached financial close on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) scheme.

The £550m joint venture contract is for the design, build, finance and operation of the development.

The Connect Roads consortium, now known as Aberdeen Roads Limited, involves Galliford Try's Scottish infrastructure business, Morrison Construction and its investments division, Galliford Try Investments; and will be supported by the investment and construction arms of Balfour Beatty plc and Carillion plc.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Transport Scotland, Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council.

Greg Fitzgerald, Galliford Try Executive Chairman, said: "We are delighted to be involved with our consortium partners to deliver this hugely significant infrastructure project, which will considerably improve the transport network around Aberdeen.

"Galliford Try plc has a strong presence in Scotland through Morrison Construction, who are also currently constructing the Queensferry Crossing, which is the largest infrastructure project in Scotland for a generation, as part of the Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors.

"The AWPR/B-T gives us a further opportunity to demonstrate our technical expertise, our collaborative approach to working, and to strengthen our existing relationships with Transport Scotland and its partners Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council."
