A total of seven new business units are to be constructed at Mid Road Industrial Estate in Prestonpans in East Lothian.
Work is expected to commence on the units in February 2015 and completed – and available for lease – by August 2014.
The project will cost more than £1.1m and Maxi Construction Ltd has been named as the contractor appointed to the scheme. East Lothian Council is funding the project, with a contribution of almost £350,000 from the European Regional Structural Funds of the European Union (ERDF).
Welcoming the investment, Councillor John McMillan, Cabinet Spokesperson for Economic Development and Tourism, said: "I am sure there will be high demand for these new units as we are actively encouraging new business in East Lothian and helping existing ones to expand. This all helps towards our target of making East Lothian's economy the fastest-growing in Scotland."
John Aitchison, Managing Director of Maxi Construction, added: "We are delighted to continue to work with East Lothian Council in the provision of new facilities for the area."
