Plans to build 56 new homes in South Lanarkshire have been approved by Councillors.
Two separate applications were approved by the council's planning committee, which will see the new flats delivered for the social rented housing market in East Kilbride.
The first application was for Clyde Valley Housing Association to construct 32 flats – with associated parking and landscaping – on a site on Murray Road.
The second application, on behalf of the housing association and Merchant Homes Partnerships Ltd, approved 24 flats at Eaglesham Road and Westwood Road. The properties will be constructed in a four-storey block, on the currently vacant site, where a parking area for 25 cars will also be provided.
Councillor Hugh Dunsmuir, Chair of South Lanarkshire Council's Planning Committee, said: "The construction of new homes for the social rented market is a key provision of our Local Plan, and the applications before us will make a valuable contribution towards that aim."
