Phased work is ready to begin as part of a £5.2m regeneration project in Gourock.
RJ McLeod is the appointed contractor for the scheme, with the work being approved by regeneration company Riverside Inverclyde.
The project will consist of three phrases.
Phase 1 will consist of the construction of a new car park located to the east of Gourock Station, as well as the formation of the a link road through the existing foreshore. This work will commence this month and run until April 2015.
Phase 2 will involve the construction of the new Bypass Road, and revetment works to the Kempock Street Car Park wall. This will take place from March 2015 until June 2015.
The final phase will see the completion of the Network Rail Car Park, plus new paving and road resurfacing on Kempock Street. This work is scheduled for May 2015 to October 2015.
Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council's Environment and Regeneration Convener, commented: "The Gourock regeneration scheme is a significant investment in the local area and residents and local businesses will be delighted to see the work starting on this project.
"The contractors, RJ McLeod, and delivery agent Riverside Inverclyde have agreed to the phasing of works and a new community liaison officer has been appointed to make sure residents and shop keepers are kept informed throughout the works contract."
