Work has started at the new Viewforth High School in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

The £21.5m school will be located on Windmill Road in the town and is being delivered by BAM Construction.

The new school, which will accommodate up to 600 pupils and staff, will include state-of-the-art teaching spaces and technology, a sports centre, library and community facilities. It will also be the new home of Rosslyn School which caters for children and young adults with complex additional support needs.

Their current building is to be replaced by facilities that have been designed to provide the best educational experience for each of pupil, such as a large, fully-equipped sensory room, as well as quiet rooms.

Doug Keillor, Regional Director for BAM Construction said: "We are once again delighted that Fife Council have put their trust in us to deliver this innovative, purpose built building for Viewforth and Rosslyn.

"We have built a seriously strong relationship with our client and their team over the last five years and the award winning projects we have already handed over on time and budget demonstrate the major benefits that come from long term partnering arrangements."

The new Viewforth High School is scheduled for completion in 2016.
