Plans to build six more housing developments in Fife have been approved in principle.
The proposed developments, which are subject to the statutory planning process, include:
• 43 homes at Carnock Road, Milesmark, Dunfermline
• 20 homes at the former Hawkleymuir Works, Lawson Street, Kirkcaldy
• 14 homes at North Street, Leven
• 31 homes at Turpie Road, Leven
• 101 homes at Steel Brae, Methil
• 12 homes at Wellesley Road, Methil
Fife Council's Executive Committee has approved the six projects in principle and agreed to the negotiation of possible contracts.
Welcoming the announcement, Councillor Judy Hamilton, Executive Spokesperson for Housing & Building Services, said: "I'm pleased that the Executive Committee has given the go ahead for officers to progress proposals for six housing developments.
"They can now negotiate possible contracts that will hopefully see these developers build us 221 new affordable houses for rent. Projects such as this are examples of how we are using a range of ways to deliver on the commitment of 2700 new affordable homes by 2017.
"We must continue to tackle the long housing list that is faced by the council and housing associations. This investment of over £25 million across the six developments could contribute vastly towards our target for more much-needed affordable housing in Fife."
