Work is to begin on the Brechin flood prevention scheme next month, Angus Council has announced.
This £5.8m contract for the project has been awarded to Morrison Construction. The overall scheme is expected to cost around £16m.
The Brechin Flood Prevention Scheme is an integrated flood and drainage development which aims to provide the area from flooding. It will consist of direct defences, flood embankments, flood walls and upgrades to the existing surface water drainage system, such as work on the Denburn Culvert and the installation of three submerged pump stations.
Work on the scheme is scheduled to be completed by March 2016.
