Work is to begin this weekend on essential resurfacing works in areas of East Kilbride.
From 7pm today (14 November), St Leonards Road will be resurfaced with the work continuing until 6am on Monday (17 November). As a result, the road will close between High Common Road roundabout and Glen Clunie, while Morrishall Road will also close between St Leonards Road and Glen Ogilvie.
An alternative route will be in place for motorists, via St Leonards Road, Calderwood Road and Maxwellton Road.
Then, from next week, resurfacing works will be carried out at Maxwellton Road. The project will commence from 7am on Monday (17 November) and last until 5pm on Friday 21 November.
During the works, Maxwellton Road will close in both directions, between Alloway Road and Pembroke. An alternative route will be in place via Calderwood Road, St Leonards Road and Maxwellton Road.
Councillor Chris Thompson, Chair of South Lanarkshire Council's Enterprise Services Committee, said: "These road works are essential to improve the road surfaces at both locations. Unfortunately they cannot be done without some disruption to road users and we apologise for that.
"We would advise people to avoid the areas if at all possible during the closure periods, or if not to try and ensure they allow themselves extra time for their journey."
