The Highland Council has said it is to provide a further investment in its LED street lighting programme.
The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, cut energy consumption and save around £35,000 a year.
This latest investment will see 667 street lights upgraded in a number of locations across the Highlands. The council has said the upgrade to LED lighting could save around 292,105 kWh per year.
Councillor Graham MacKenzie, Chair of the Community Services Committee, said: "This is a good example of a 'spend to save' initiative. The programme will save around £35,000 per year, which will come from reduced energy costs and decreased maintenance and will help to reduce carbon emissions."
