49 new homes for social rent are to be built in Springburn, north Glasgow, following the submission of plans.
Page\Park architects lodged the proposals with Glasgow City Council on behalf of Loretto Housing Association.
The housing will be developed in Barclay Street and will see eight blocks of accommodation spread across the site of the former Albert School. The development will be centred around a central ‘spine’ connecting Springburn Academy to the town centre.
The plans also incorporate a series of rear back courts that offer private gardens and communal green spaces and utility areas.
Rona Anderson, Loretto’s regeneration co-ordinator, said: "I’m sure our tenants will enjoy living in these modern, spacious, energy-efficient homes."
Work on the new homes is expected to start in 2015 and take about a year to complete.
