A new ski resort has been approved for Wanlockhead in southern Scotland.
It is expected to open within a matter of weeks.
An application for the resort was submitted by the Lowther Hills Ski Club and will see a timber clubhouse, toilet facilities, an engine house and a 600m rope tow on the slope constructed.
The development is understood to be part of a wider plan to market the area as a year-round sports resort.
Anjo Abelaira, Chairman of Lowther Hills Ski Club, is quoted by the BBC as saying: "The ski facilities will put the village on the map and it will bring people to the area.
"We will be staffed by volunteers and mainly open at weekends. We will be open for about 25 days between December and March."
Eventual plans for the facility include offering visitors to the area the opportunities to take part in a range of activities such as golf, curling, hill walking and mountain biking.
