Funding Success For Alloa Skate Park

A skate park project in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, has been awarded up to £100,000 from the Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund.

It is one of 47 projects that will benefit from a share of £2.4m from the fund. The £10m Active Places Fund by the Scottish Government allows for organisations to upgrade or create new sports and physical activity infrastructure.

Welcoming the funding news, Councillor Ellen Forson, Clackmannanshire Council's Education, Sport and Leisure Convener, said: "The Alloa skate park project is about creating a fantastic and fun skate park for local young people.

"The establishment of a skate park in Sauchie last year has been very popular with young people and there is evidence of significant demand for a similar facility elsewhere in the county."

A suitable site for the park is said to be located adjacent to the Bowmar Centre. The local authority will now seek planning permission for the scheme, as well as a tender process to appoint a contractor.
