A resurfacing and drainage works project has commenced on the A72, just outside Hazelbank in South Lanarkshire.
The work, which started today (13 October), is expected to take up to five days to complete. A section of the A72 will be closed between Crossford and the A73 Steels Cross during the project. A signed diversion route is in place for motorists.
Gordon Mackay, South Lanarkshire Council's head of Roads and Transportation Services, said: "These works are essential to improve the road surface at this location. Unfortunately it cannot be done without some disruption to road users and we apologise for that.
"We are doing the work during the school October week holidays to help reduce disruption as much as possible. We would advise people to avoid the area if at all possible but if you can't please allow extra time for your journey."
