Aberdeenshire Council has approved planning permission in principle for the construction of onshore elements needed for offshore wind farms in the Outer Moray Firth.
The works are necessary to connect to the transmission grid.
The proposal consisted of two substations located southwest of New Deer, transmission cables coming ashore at Inverboyndie, and some 33km of underground cables between Inverboyndie and Mains of Asleid.
The offshore wind farms related to the proposals received consent from the Scottish Government in March 2014.
