Repair Works For Tay Road Bridge

A series of essential repair works are to be carried out on the Tay Road Bridge next month, Dundee City Council has confirmed.

The works will be undertaken on the carriageway, and the expansion joints of the bridge.

The project will be carried out over three consecutive weekends, from 7.30pm on a Friday to 6am on a Monday, to minimise disruption to those using the bridge. During the closures, a contra-flow system will be in operation, with one full carriageway closed to enable works to be carried out. A temporary 30mph speed restriction will also be in place.

Main work on the scheme will be carried out by Tayside Contracts. They aim to commence work on Friday 3 October, while the full programme involves:

• Weekend 1: Friday 3 October, from 7.30pm until Monday 6 October at 6am

• Weekend 2: Friday 10 October, from 7.30pm until Monday 13 October at 6am

• Weekend 3: Friday 17 October, from 7.30pm until Monday 20 October at 6am.

Prior to these works starting, three days of advance enabling works to the Bridgehead roundabout will take place from Monday 29 September at 9.30am. This will result in traffic being reduced to one lane north bound and one lane south bound around the roundabout; but will not cause any restrictions to the bridge or the B946 link road to Newport and Tayport.
